Change the Tires

You'll also need to frequently rotate the new tires around. Going in a single direction around a race course means that the rubber is likely to wear down on one side. Rotating the back and front tires will wear them out more evenly.

Maintain Your Battery

Batteries are usually taken for granted when you're working on the engine and other vehicle parts. A brief glance toward the battery can reveal serious corrosion issues, but you will also need to more closely check each connection and know water levels so the battery isn't ever in danger of running dry or dying at an important time.

The rest of the charging system needs attention, too. While some racers get rid of the alternator to preserve horsepower, that can affect the car's voltage and ability to run fast like you want.

Utilize Tuning Kits

You can use various kits like the HP Tuners VCM suite and others to modify your engine, giving you the power necessary to compete. These kits typically allow you to modify ignition timing, air to fuel ratio and other details related to the engine and components that will get your vehicle moving fast. 

Different kits have different capabilities, but above all, you should receive some training with it before using it to tune up the car. Using a kit with many features won't do you any good if you don't know how to use them or don't need them at all. 

Change Air Filters

Standard filters will filter out particulates and debris; they also prevent too much noise. When you're interested in speed, you may prefer filters which allow more noise and greater air circulation.
